Teh Grind…

•October 15, 2009 • 1 Comment

Had a productive day at work.  Got most of what I needed to do done and drummed up some extra work in the process.  And I was home before 6pm…nice.  Still not sure what to do tonight though…I wanna go out and do SOMETHING…really anything.  Playing some pool with my best bud sounds good…too bad his new car won’t be here until tomorrow, else we’d be out cruising right about now!  One thing I will say, I found my favorite rock station from Kansas City and am streaming now…so I am at least entertained to some extent!!!

Tomorrow seems promising…a few loose ends to tie up and then I’m gonna go hang out with Aaron…how long has that been!?  Oh, well, we’ll see what tomorrow brings…

Last call for nachos…huh?  nevermind…

B-Day Party #2

•October 14, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Had a good time with Sandra, Mary and Joseph, Rosie and Sam, Doug and Felicia, and the girls.  We got to sit around and catch up, tell stories, and reminisce.  Josiah got to run around with Daisy and Victoria.  We had cake and Josiah played with his new Legos set…you could also see the wheels turning as he pondered the possibilities that were now opened to him as currency fell from his birthday card!  He’s a great kid, and I am so thankful to have him.  We had a great day, and with all confidence Josiah is proudly walking around and proclaiming that he is now 5-years-old!

Love my kiddo!

BLOG IS DEAD!!!

I’m not going to make a Josiah’s 5th birthday resolution to update more often…just felt like typing…

A lot has gone on in the past few months…most of it worth forgetting and moving past.

Needless to say, I am now a single dad back on the scene and it feels so good to be able to breathe again.  God knows I tried to make my marriage work…5.5 years of trying…and now the trial is over and I can confidently say that I passed it…I must confess that I probably didn’t get an “A”, but passing is still enough!  I am glad that it is over and after just a few weeks of being unmarried, I can already feel myself starting to recover from the whole ordeal.

So, starting over, fresh…

I’m just so thankful that I have my son in my care…this alone gives me so much peace of mind.  He is one of the greatest joys of my life and so awesome in every way.  He reminds me of myself on a daily basis, and that’s not to brag on me, it just makes it that much easier to relate to him.  Today he is 5-years-old and thriving.

I am also so thankful for all of the help from my parents during this time of transition…they have let me have my space (for the most part, LOL) which, I think, has helped to expedite the healing process.

As for my X, I will just say that I don’t miss her at all…I realized this a week after she left me.  She is busy off doing her own thing now, and more power to her…I just don’t want to hear about it…AGAIN…EVER…

A few friends have asked me if I would consider reconciliation with her…to which I emphatically respond HELL NO!  I made that mistake once…and now that it has been remedied, I will not go back…I learned my lesson the first time.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate her (as much…God help me) and I don’t want her burning in hell…I’m just done making excuses for her behavior and want nothing to do with her anymore.  I do hope for her sake that she gets her shit together and goes on to lead a full and happy life…

Another thing that I am grateful for is that all of this has rekindled my passion for music…I’ve been listening to everything I can get my hands on and I’ve been playing my guitar like crazy and writing quite a bit of music and lyrics…I will probably not post anything until I have something recorded though.

That just about catches everyone up…you haven’t really missed much…

Until next time, this is Marty Stoufer for “Wild America”

I love ellipses.  The movie taught me about letting go…there are just certain things that are out of our control.  And sometimes all we can do it let go…and move on.  That is all.

54ND5URF3R’s Summer Weight-Gain Tips:

•May 30, 2009 • Leave a Comment

We see them all the time, billboards, magazine ads, Internet pop-ups…and they all say the same thing:  “‘This and that’…to a slimmer, more lovable, more confident, sexier, less-made-fun-of you..etc, etc…”

Well, for those of you who could stand to gain a few pounds (all you stick-people out there), here is my advice for filling in your swimwear this summer.

  • What-a-burger @ 3:00am followed by Shipley’s @ 4:00am (when they put out the hot and fresh doughnuts)
  • Monte Cristo Sandwich from Bennigan’s (at any time…but especially right before a nap, or bedtime)
  • Entire bag of “Fun-size” candies (smaller is not more fun…contrary to what they want us to think)
  • Baking homemade cheesecakes weekly
  • Grabbing handfuls of the sample doughnuts/cookies in the bakery section of the grocery store…and periodically cruising back by there
  • Gravy (On anything and everything…or just by itself)
  • Butter (On anything and everything…but not by itself…if you are looking at eating butter by itself, at least roll that stick around in some cinnamon sugar first!)
  • and lastly DIET soda…it’s been proven that diet drinks do nothing for settling down those obnoxious sugar cravings…in fact, since they only fool your taste buds, they leave your body with an even higher desire for the sweet stuff.

So, if you need to put on a few pounds this summer so that you can FINALLY fit into that bathing suit, just adhere to a couple if not all of these weight gain secrets and you will successfully achieve those summer weight-gain goals!

Good Luck!

Saw this and just had to share…

15 Hours A Day

•April 13, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Another 12 hour day…up at 6:50 (didn’t even hear my alarm…but I do remember turning it off…) and at the airport by 7:30…home by 9:45.  I really need to do this more often (sound familiar?).  There is just something about being out on the tarmac in the cool of the day; the line crew, pilots, and passengers starting to scurry about.  So much noise and texture in the air…it’s kind of peaceful, kind of serene, kind of therapeutic.  And then to experience the cooling of dusk and to watch the sun setting behind the tower.  Someone once told me how they love the smell of burning Av Gas…that it smells like raw power, sometimes walking in the jet-wash I kind of understand what they meant.  I really have gotten used to the environment…I don’t know what I would do without it.

It was a long and somewhat shuffled day for the fam…but it was another great one.

And that’s the way the cookie crumbles…

I was just sitting around the house with Josiah, eating breakfast and watching Bolt for the ‘nth’  time; and a thought occurred to me: “What can we do today…instead of just moping around the place and brooding over how ‘blah’ where I am in my life is…?”

Sooooooooooooo I got off my butt and…

We (and by ‘We’, I mean Josiah and me…Ellie’s still not feelin’ too hot)…

  • Watched some E/I TV *Shock*
  • Read some books
  • BBQ-d some country style ribs
  • Went to Wal-Mart to get Totino’s for Josiah…I there found the “Do you not realize I have had diarrhea since Easters” basket that we bought for him for $1.25 cheaper (reduced), so I bought another one and walked straight for customer service returning it with my previous receipt!
  • Did some regulatory inspections of the fluids and systems of the truck (did that sound sexy to anyone else or is it just me?  Kind of like, “Girl I know you like my speedo.” Thank you once again Aaron!)
  • Cleaned out (or rather started to clean out) the back of the truck…it was then that we noticed the perfect setting for taking a family walk…so…we…
  • Went for a family walk (Ellie was there too!)

And since he had been asking me alllllllllllllllllllllllllll day long to take him for a bike ride, I…took Josiah for a bike ride.  At first, I just went down to the turn-around at the end of the street, and I was feeling the cries of the unused muscles that don’t get worked unless you are on a bike.  But that all settled down, and with my legs now stretched out and primed to pump, we peddled down to the other end of the street.  That would have to be about half a mile.  We stopped at the busy corner and I decided to cross over to the dirt farm road that I used to take when I was running (all those years ago).  So, we kept riding and I was feeling that familiar surge of endorphins and adrenaline.  I missed that feeling…that “runner’s high.”  Anyway, we watched giant cranes fly off, and a small hawk perched on the bank, and some turtles and fish in the canal…we were having a great time and then I realized that the sun was beginning to set and the air temp was dropping.  So I decided to head back.  We made it home in one piece and our total distance was about 5 miles round trip.  Not bad for our first biking adventure.  I think we will definitely be making this a regular practice–especially since I won’t be doing any running any time soon…*sigh*

  • Oh, and then we played Candy Land
  • Played Play-Doh
  • Cleaned Siah’s room
  • And then I stuffed all the crap back into the back of my truck…where it now waits for the “back of the truck cleaning” mood to hit me again!

Today was great…here’s to more days like this one!

Cheers!
